Current Legislative Framework

The Chambers operates in accordance with the article. 1, Paragraph 1 of law 2081/1992, the essence of this is:

".....mandatory separate and independent associations of legal persons engaged in a commercial activity in a certain region, are legal persons under public law and under the administrative supervision of the Minister of Commerce......

And in accordance with paragraph 2 of the same article:

The protection and development of commerce, industry, crafts and professions within the interests of the national economy and the overall economic progress. The provision of advisory papers for each topic economic content, to the State always driven the economic growth of the region and serve the general good of the national economy. Also, provide advisory suggestions and information for each topic economic content to its members and any interested Members of the Chambers, as well as:
  • Persons with established commercial activity in the region.
  • Legal entities and partnerships if they have commercial property and their headquarters in the region.
  • Branches of domestic enterprises as well as the branches or agencies of foreign firms as well as their production units if they are located in the region of the Chamber in which their head office is situated.
