The Northern Pindos National Park was established in 2005 by the Joint Ministerial Decision 23069/14-6-2 and is one of eleven areas belonging to the Pan-European network of protected areas (Natura 2000).
This is one of the largest land-based protected areas in our country, with a total area of 1,969,741 stremmata, and is one of the most important at national and European level, as it combines a unique natural and man-made environment. The existence of numerous endemic species of flora, almost all of the large wild mammals that live in our country, as well as rare species of avifauna, give the Northern Pindos National Park a special ecological value.
The area is also very rich in historical and cultural elements. Traditional settlements, elaborate, intriguing stone arched bridges, temples and monasteries, mills and stone stairs are prevalent throughout the park.
